There have been discussions about cutting down the use of plastic bags, and that Singapore should follow what other cities are doing — charge customers for plastic bags because they cause more harm than good to the environment.
Many people here, I believe, reuse plastic bags for kitchen wastes, or to pick up dog poo.
It is not the availability or overuse of plastic bags which create environmental havoc. The real problem is that of irresponsible human acts.
Plastic bags clog up drains and pollute oceans because people fail to dispose of them properly.
Why can’t people respect the environment and their habitats and put used plastic bags where they belong?
